Does Stress Affect Weight Loss?

There are many different reasons for a person to loose their appetite. Both men and women are prone to loosing their appetite due to sickness or life's stresses. Many people actually suffer such a loss of appetite that they can start to lose weight, making them fairly skinny. How To Lose Weight - You Will Fail Unless You Know These

We have all shed some weight only to find that it quickly finds its way back on again. Fact is, most diets out there are unsuccessful because they fail to target the exact nature of long term sustainable weight loss, the thing we all desire. In order to help you with your diet, I have put together these top five "must know" strategies. Once you take these onboard, you will have the exact blueprint that the fitness gurus teach.

1. Exercise will always speed up weight loss - Fact

If you want to succeed long term and keep the weight off, you should do some form of exercise. Your 30 minute exercises twice per week will ensure you increase your heart rate and speed up your metabolism. You can even do them in 15 minute slots, 4 times per week, there is no fixed rule here. If you can't run, walking is a great way to get you moving. Give it a try, because after 2 weeks you will certainly lose unwanted fat from the areas you most desire.

2. Your food diary - Keep a log of everything you eat

This alone will be a deciding factor on whether you lose weight or not because you must keep track of what you are eating, and how much too. You may not have noticed how much you snack, or what you are snacking on is actually bad for you. Making subtle changes will always make a huge difference when embarking upon any diet program. The same goes with portion size. You may be thinking, who cares if I eat an extra 200 calories per day more than I should. This equates to an extra 1400 calories per week and it is nearly a whole days worth of food extra that you do not need. This leads to steady weight gain, so always log everything you eat, including the type of food, and the amount. You can then reflect on this and see where you can cut back or replace certain meals with a healthier alternative.

3. The healthy mindset

Do not over burden yourself with trying to shed a stone in a week. Firstly, you need to have the right body fuel, which means a controlled diet. Does your car run well on water? No, and your body does not run very well when you consume excess fatty oils either. If you stay determined, you are already half way there.

4. Overeating - We all do it

There are many reasons why we choose to eat more than our body requires. This is called comfort or habit eating. As mentioned earlier, those extra calories soon escalate, until you are overeating by a day a week without even knowing. If you are stressed, angry, alone or have other triggers such as depression, these can all lead to overeating occasionally. Remember the healthy mindset from point 3 and get yourself back on track.

5. Portion control

As this is an extremely important aspect when trying to lose weight, we cover it in more detail here. Try and cut down on your portion sizes, even just a couple of times per week to start with. An excellent way to reduce portion intake is to not eat after 6 or 7pm in the evening. This is when you may be least active hence your body is burning less calories. If you are hungry and would like to eat, snack on something healthy before bed, but only if you must.

How Much Weight Can a Horse Carry?

When asking the question, "how much weight can a horse carry?" you often hear a response similar to "it depends on the breed of the horse, its conditioning and conformation, how far and how long you will be traveling, the horse's bone structure, the type of weight the horse will carry (for example live [rider] or dead weight [gear]), weight distribution" and so on. So with this sound advice from your fellow horsemen, surely you now have a much better idea of how much weight your horse can carry. No? Of course not. Though your colleagues are correct in stating all the above factors, you are still left in the dark without any guideline on how much weight a horse can carry. Can my horse only carry 80 pounds, or is he capable of carrying 300 pounds?

Fortunately some very smart horsemen over the years have come up with a few methods for us to calculate a starting point to help determine how much weight a horse can carry. One very simple guide is to take the horse's weight and divide by six to give you the total weight, including rider and tack, the horse can carry. Given this, a 1200 pound horse could carry up to 200 pounds.

Another quick and popular method is to use the 20% rule. You take 20% of your horse's body weight and the result is the amount of total weight your horse can carry. For example, a 1,000 pound horse should easily carry 200 pounds of rider and tack. The 20% rule typically applies to competitive or otherwise "hard" riding. For pleasure riding, many use a 30% rule, so this 1,000 pound horse could carry 300 pounds for shorter pleasure rides.

Measuring a horse's cannon bone is used by some in determining the approximate weight a horse can carry. A measurement is taken around the circumference of the foreleg, just below the knee. Add together the weight of the horse plus the rider and tack, and divide this sum by the cannon bone circumference measurement. Then divide that result by two. A number between 75 and 85 is good. If the number is over 85, you probably need a larger horse. Using this method, I measure the circumference of the horse's cannon bone and get 7.5 inches. The body weight of the horse is 1,150 pounds and the rider and gear weigh 235 pounds for a total combined weight of 1,350 pounds. Divide 1,350 (total combined weight) by 7.5 (cannon bone) and I get roughly 185. Divide 185 in half and my final resulting number is 93. Using this calculating method, I either need to lighten my gear or get a larger horse to get the number down to around 85.

Some horse and rider guidelines where carrying weight is concerned:

Pick a horse with bigger cannon bones, wider loins, shorter back

Avoid using heaving saddles and only carry necessary gear

Make sure the horse is conditioned for the type of riding you doing

Keep proper riding posture and balance

Give the horse a break on longer rides - get off a while and let your horse rest

Avoid riding in areas where footing is not desirable - such as mud, deep sand, asphalt

Avoid letting the horse trot or canter

The maximum weight a horse can safely carry does vary by the breed of the horse and how hard it's worked. There is no absolute rule about how much weight a horse can carry, but generally speaking the lighter-framed the horse the less he can carry. A well conditioned horse or a stout horse can generally carry more. Some breeds are bred to carry heavier weights like the Quarter Horse, Arabian or Icelandic Pony. Riders with good balance also make weight load less of a problem.

Lose Weight By Eating Ice Cream

Hot new research reveals that ice cream, when eaten as part of a healthy diet, may actually melt away fat, helping you lose weight quicker than if you abstained! Plus a dish a day helps you get healthier in other ways according to Marsha Hudnall's book, THE ICE CREAM DIET.

But before you head out for a couple of gallons of Ben and Jerry's remember that too much can find it's way to the hips, belly and other unwanted places.

One of the key benefits of ice cream is that it may satisfy your cravings better than any other food. "When we tell ourselves we can't have something, we immediately focus our attention on what's forbidden, which increases our desire and chances of losing control," says Marsha Hudnall, RD, of Green Mountain at Fox Run, a "non-diet" weight control spa.

A key benefit of ice cream is the calcium it provides. Only 4% of women over 50 meet the daily 1,200 mg goal. The average female calcium intake is only 652 mg. Less than one third of men reach these same goals.

Calcium is also ice cream's "secret" slim down ingredient. In a recent study, overweight people who took a calcium supplement lost 38% more body fat than those who ate the same reduced-calorie diet without the supplement.

How does calcium help you lose? A diet low in calcium shuts down your body's fat burning ability, say experts. When your body doesn't get enough calcium, it triggers fat cells to store fat and get bigger.

So, how much ice cream is "reasonable?" The guideline is a one-half cup serving of no more than 125 calories. My personal favorite is Bryers No Sugar Added Vanilla. It has only 120 calories per 1/2 cup and the flavor reminds me of the "good old days" when we took turns cranking the six quart ice cream freezer full of moms special recipe. Ummm good.

I first found hypnosis when I was hypnotised at a stage show. I was quacking like a duck and running away from terrorist bombs and everyone in the crowd had a great time laughing at me.

It was about a year after this experience that I decided I wanted to travel around Australia but I was very afraid of flying so I decided to go to a hypnotherapist to see if he could help me with my fear of flying.

After just 2 sessions with him I felt I was confident enough to get on the plane to Australia without being scared of every part of the journey.

The body burns fat 3 times faster when incorporating strength training into the program. For breakfast on: Day 2 I had two 2 bowls of cheerios. For lunch I had a turkey sandwich again...sux, and for dinner I had smoked salmon and broccoli. Smoked Salmon This recipe gives you moist smoked salmon- not the drier, thinly sliced type you purchase at the deli. Because kosher salt has big crystals and absorbs more moisture than other types of salt, it is ideal for curing meats. You may wanna start this early because the salmon has to soak in the ingredients for 2 hours. I did mine in one. Prep 11 min - Cook 25 min - Other 2 hour 3 and half cups of water half cup of kosher salt quarter cup of sugar 2 tablespoons of dried dill 2 tablespoons of low-sodium soy sauce 1 cup of ice 1 (1 and haf pound) salmon fillet (about 1 inch thick) cooking spray liquid hickory (optional) Note: I broke this recipe in half, I can't eat a that damn fish. 1. Combine first 5 ingredients in a large bowl, stir until salt and sugar dissolve. Pour mixture in zip-top plastic bag. Add ice and fish, seal. Refrigerate 2 hours turning bag occasionally. 2. Preheat oven to 375 3. Place in middle of the oven on a cooking sheet (use cooking spray) for 25 min or until ...
